Deilight's Founder brings home top award: Rising Stars 2022

"Thank you leading women of the UK for sharing your space and stage graciously and generously with this man - as equals. I'm honoured by your example, celebrate your achievement and support your goals."

Deilight's Founder Ian Clarke named this years Editors Choice winner, the top award at WeAreTheCity's Rising Stars 2022, for his outstanding senior male contribution to advancing women's rights and opportunity in business.

Every year WeAreTheCity celebrates over 100 individual female contributors that represent the leaders and role models of tomorrow, plus 5 senior male allies who help pave the way for more women to follow in their place. 50 expert judges help identify the movers and shakers from over 1,300 promising nominees.

Accepting the award, Ian commented "For all this exceptional standout talent, I fear for how much we are still missing out there. The unseen unsung heroes and heroines, those without a voice, the Jeff's, Elon's and Gate's we are yet to discover because blinding bias over their gender, ethnicity, sexuality or some other totally benign difference has led to their ideas and potential being dismissed as worthless. So I and others will continue our efforts every waking day encouraging our fellow man to share equally and in kind the corridors of power with you so that together, finally, all of humanity can thrive."

The Editor’s Choice category recognises individuals who have been specifically selected by the leadership team at WeAreTheCity and one independent judge. This award recognises their outstanding contribution and tireless efforts towards gender equality, both in the workplace and across wider society.

Commenting on Ian's success and that of the 5 other male winners this year, Founder of WeAreTheCity, Vanessa Vallely OBE said "The calibre of entries this year has been truly exceptional. Every one of these men should be extremely proud of their achievements. They are key contributors to their industries and outstanding role models. I wish them the very best of luck as they continue to champion this important area of inclusion.”

Rising Stars 2022

Since 2015, the awards have been shining a light on women’s achievements and championing equality with a goal to showcase 1,000 outstanding women by 2025.

Now in its 8th year, Rising Stars stands out from other awarding bodies for meaningfully spotlighting female achievement and creating spotlight opportunities to raise the profile of all its shortlisters and winners. It's goal of showcasing 1,000 outstanding women by 2025 whilst encouraging organisations to consider how they strengthen the development of their future female pipeline.

If you wish to take part in next year’s awards ceremony, you don’t have to wait too long as nominations for the Rising Stars Award 2023 will open in January next year.
